LOVE & LIGHT

Yoga encourages the connection between your mind, your body and your breath; the three fundamental components of all human beings.

About Yoga

Many people have questions about yoga; is it a form of exercise? Is it a philosophy or religion? Or is it, in fact, a way of life?

In fact Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. It became popular in the West in the 20th century where it is most often associated with the physical practice of asanas (postures), particularly stretching exercises to build flexibility and relax the body.

Yoga is becoming increasingly popular as a workout and it’s not surprising! Imagine a form of exercise that not only improves flexibility, strengthens your muscles and contributes to weight loss, but also centres your mind, your thoughts and relaxes you!

Yoga is for everyone regardless of age, level of health and fitness, religion or whether you can touch your toes or stand on your head!

ABOUT YOGA

I believe that yoga is for every body – old, young, big, little, bendy or rigid! To that end I create Hatha Flow yoga classes that can be adapted for all bodies. It is my aim to make all of my students feel welcome and comfortable whilst at the same time mastering alignment and building strength and flexibility.

About Sarah

I am a qualified yoga teacher, a busy wife and mum of three, a lover of music, campfires, good books and sandy beaches. I am passionate about sharing my love of yoga through thoughtful and considered Hatha Flow yoga classes on the Essex/Suffolk border.

I have been practicing yoga on and off since having my children, but it really took hold of my life in 2015 when I was looking for a physical practice that didn’t involve hours in the gym. I soon realised that what had started as a few movements to build strength and increase flexibility was actually so much more and the love affair began. Now yoga gives me the chance to still my mind, to feel great physically and to embrace a spiritual path that gives me a sense of joy and connection.

“Ke yoga is a wonderful and inclusive class for yogis of all levels. Sarah is a wonderful teacher and guide. She assures you that it doesn't matter if your pose isn't perfect and to do what feels right for you. I come out of every class feeling physically and mentally energised and ready to tackle the day ahead. I have recommended Ke yoga to my friends and I'm enjoying my yoga journey thanks to Sarah at Ke yoga.”

FAQs

First time yoga

If you have never been to a yoga class before you may have a lot of questions or concerns about starting something that you don't know anything about.  Please don't worry, my yoga classes are very welcoming and inclusive.  We have all been the "newbie" at one time so know how you feel!  I am happy to answer any questions you may have in general about yoga or about my classes in particular so please do get in touch.

What to bring

I have a supply of yoga mats, blocks and straps available for each class, so don't worry about buying anything before you come along.  As you continue on your yoga journey you may want to invest in your own mat, come and talk to me about my recommendations.

What to wear

Wear clothes that you are comfortable to exercise in- you'll be practicing poses and stretching for the best part of your hour class.  Ensure that you have good movement but that they are not too baggy - certain yoga poses can be quite revealing!  Yoga is practiced barefoot so no need for shoes, trainers or socks.

Flexibility

It is a common misconception that everyone who practices yoga is super bendy - this couldn't be further from the truth!  Not all yogis are super supple; you'll see many of them bending their knees to touch their toes during warm-ups.  The structure of the classes will guide you through a series of gentle warm-up stretches at the start of each class to help prepare for poses.  After a few weeks you will definitely be more flexible than when you started.
